๐ŸŽ‰ The Good News

Zero personal income tax in Bahrain. No tax on salary, bonuses, share options, or investment income. No capital gains tax on personal investments. No inheritance or estate tax. This applies to all residents โ€” Bahraini and expatriate alike.

But Consider...

๐Ÿ  Home Country Tax

US citizens โ€” worldwide taxation regardless of residence. UK residents โ€” may need to claim DTA relief. Indian nationals โ€” tax residency test (182 days). France โ€” exit tax on unrealized gains. Breaking home tax residency is essential.

๐Ÿ’ฐ GOSI Contributions

Employer pays 3% (unemployment) + 3% (work injury) = 6% of salary. No employee contribution for expats. Maximum salary cap โ€” BD 4,000 for GOSI purposes. These are not refundable upon leaving Bahrain.

๐Ÿ“‹ Work Permit Costs

LMRA work permit: BD 200/year. Labour market levy: BD 300-500/year depending on sector. Flexi permit (self-employed): BD 450/year. All payable by employer or individual.

๐Ÿฆ CRS / FATCA

Bahrain banks report under both CRS and FATCA. Your home country will receive your Bahrain bank account details. Investment accounts, savings, and insurance policies all reportable.
